I think that my summing up of this half term would be ‘That was the half term that was‘ because it has absolutely flown by –if the rest of the year goes as quickly it will be the summer term before we know it.

Part of the reason that time has appeared to go so quickly is because it has been a really busy half term and this week has been no exception as we have had our parent consultations. It was great to see so many parents in school and to be able to share with you how your children have settled into the new school year. I always take part in the Year 6 consultations in the autumn term so I do not get to see many of the other parents but I have had a lot of positive feedback from the teachers about their meetings and that is always good to hear. Remember if you do have any concerns about your child you do not have to wait for a parent consultation to speak to us – you can ring up to make an appointment at any time.

A parent has also informed me this week that traffic wardens have been in school road this week and did issue some parking tickets. Please remember that the parking restrictions have been put there by the council and if you are found parking in the restricted zone by a traffic warden they will issue a ticket and there is nothing the school can do about it.

A treat that we had this morning was the Year 5 assembly. It was about their space topic and it was most enjoyable to watch – a lovely end to the half term. I was particularly impressed as the children had written it themselves. I would like to thank Mr da Rocha and Mrs Onley for all their work in putting the assembly together and I would like to thank the children for putting on such a good performance.

When you return after the holiday we are at the beginning of a very exciting half term because it includes a lot of social events that are fun for all the family. The first event that we are holding is our annual Fireworks Display which is on Saturday, November 5th. You will have received a letter about purchasing tickets but if you have not got it please come to the school office and they will give you a copy. I also know that the PTA are still looking for some volunteers to help run the event so if you can give any time on the Saturday or Sunday morning to help with the clear up contact either a PTA rep in your class or leave a message in the PTA box which is found next to  the school office.

I hope you all have a great half term. I hope the weather is kind to you – wherever you spend your break – and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday, 31st October.
