Friday 2 February 2018

I am recovering today after a very exciting night at the O2. I was accompanying the choir to a ‘Young Voices‘ concert. This is where many schools come together to put on a performance for their families and friends. They are joined by other artists and it is a really great night for everyone. The choir have been rehearsing for months so it was really good for them to finally put on their performance and they did themselves proud. They were prepared for the concert by Mrs Robinson and Mr Spring and I would like to thank them for all their hard work in preparing the children. Unfortunately, Mr Spring has been unwell this week and so was not able to attend the show and see ‘the fruits of his labour’. We did take some pictures and there is a DVD of the event coming out so he will have to watch that to see how well the children did.

Next week there is a lot going on in school so it is just as well that it is half term at the end because we will have time to recover from all our exertions.  On Monday it is another Sharing Assembly and those children who are taking part will have been already notified by letter. Tuesday is ‘Safer Internet Day’, which we think is extremely important. Social Media is now an integral part of life and it is essential that the children know how to use it safely. On Wednesday it is our ‘Open Afternoon’ from 3.00pm – 4.30pm when parents are invited in to have a look at the work their children have completed over the last half term. This is followed by the Valentine’s Disco on Thursday which is run by the PTA.  Nursery and Reception children are having a disco during the day but there are two discos after school for the rest of the school. The disco for the KS1 children runs from 5.00pm -6.00pm and the KS2 disco runs from 6.15pm – 7.15pm. These discos are lots of fun and include games, spot prizes and a raffle. More details about the event are included in the flyer that was sent to you by the PTA.

Have a great weekend. I look forward to seeing many of you next week at one of our events.
