We had a lovely end to our week this morning with the Year 1 Assembly. It was about the animal visit in class as part of their science topic and all the children presented their work well. Watching them perform it is hard to believe that they are just five and six years old. They really did themselves proud and I would like to thank them all for a wonderful assembly. As well as the children the staff have to work really hard to put an assembly together so I would also like to thank Mrs Beadle, Mrs Wells and Miss Davis for their efforts.

We also had an exciting start to the week with the class photographs. The children did all come into school looking very smart and well groomed so I hope all their effort with their appearance is reflected in the photographs. We will soon know when we see the results in the not too distance future.

Next week there are lots of special events taking place.  On Tuesday the girl’s football team is taking part in the semi-final of a county competition so I know you will wish them well. On Wednesday we then have the annual ‘Le Gros’ netball tournament which takes place at Mount Grace School. We are entering two teams and last year one of them got through to the semi-final so let us hope they are as successful again.  On Thursday some members of Year 4 are taking part in a technology challenge against other primary schools at Oakmere School. In this competition the children are given the task of designing and making a machine with moving parts. The children who take part all really enjoy it even if they do not win.

At the end of next week we have a lovely, long weekend to look forward to. This is because the school is closed on Friday for a training day and then we have a bank holiday on the Monday so it will be a four say weekend for the children. I do hope that the weather is kind so that we can enjoy the ‘mini-break’ because it can be hard to fill the time if it rains over all the Bank Holiday.

That is all for now. I hope you enjoy this weekend and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday.
