Friday 30 June 2023

We ended the week in a lovely way as it was the Reception class assembly this morning which was our last class assembly of the year but it was their first assembly In Little Heath. It is lovely to see our younger children perform and they did themselves proud this morning. Their assembly was about work they have covered during the year but with the amount of songs in it felt like we were watching west end musical and was enjoyed by everyone who watched it. I would like to congratulate them on their performance and I would like to thank Mrs Sheehan and all her staff for all their hard work in supporting the children.

Another big event that we had this week was the Year 6 Apprentice event. They have been very excited about this for weeks so I was glad that it could actually take place as I think some of them may have burst with excitement. There was a large variety of stalls from Beat the Goalie to face painting and all the other children had a great time walking around and seeing what was on offer.

It was a three-way tie between Icee Bros, Splash and Win and TSSJ.  All the money raised goes to charity and in total the class raised £634 which means it was well worth running. They are going to split the money between three charities which support cancer research, homelessness and guide dogs. I know that the charities will appreciate the donations and the Year 6 should all feel very proud of themselves.

As is typical of this time of year we have more events taking place next week. We are starting the week with a Sharing Assembly on Monday – if your child is taking part you will have been notified. On Wednesday evening we have our Foundation Induction Evening for all our new Nursery and Reception children. On Thursday and Friday, we have a Circus Skills workshop coming to the school and they will be taking the whole school for circus skills practice over the two days –I am sure that the children are all going to love that. The NEU are also taking strike action next week and if your child’s class has been affected you will already have been informed.

It looks like it is going to be a lovely weekend so I hope you all have a good time. As it is getting towards the end of term some of the children are getting rather tired so if you could ensure that your children are getting enough sleep I would appreciate it. With all that is going on at school we want to make sure they have enough energy so that they can enjoy the end of term.
