Even though the energy of some children is starting to flag it has still been a good week in school. We had a lovely start to our week with an assembly presented by Mr Boleto who as well as being one of our parents is also a CBBC presenter. He did an amazing assembly on keeping yourself safe on social media including how to look out for fake information which can now look very real thanks to the advancements in artificial intelligence. The presentation totally engaged the children and they certainly learnt a lot. I would like to thank Mr Boleto for coming into school and giving the children such an informative assembly. He may be returning to the school next week with his CBBC team to do some work with some of the children for a future BBC programme.

The children met their new teacher this week. Although some of them are sad to be leaving their old teacher they all appeared happy in these sessions. We also had our ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions during this week so that parents know what is in store for their child in the coming year. I hope you all found these sessions useful but do remember that if you have any concerns about your child’s learning you can contact the class teacher or myself to discuss them. Very often these concerns can be dealt with very easily and it is better to get them out in the open rather than worry about them in isolation.

We had a lovely end to the week with a piano assembly this morning and a non-uniform day. In the piano assembly all the children who have been having piano lessons in school presented some of the pieces they have been learning to the whole school and their parents. It was a lovely event although there was some sadness because Maria, the piano teacher, is leaving us so she can return to her home country to be with her extended family. The parents have all been very happy with how she has inspired their children to learn the piano and after listening to the music this morning I can see why they have been so happy to have Maria as their teacher. I am sure you will join with me in wishing her every success for the future.

As I wrote earlier it was a non-uniform day which made the children very excited. They were allowed to not be in uniform as they were all bringing in items for our Summer Fun Day which is on next Tuesday from 3.00pm -5.30pm. On behalf of the PTA I would like to thank everyone for being so generous with their donations.

Next week is also another action packed week in school. As I have already mentioned we have the PTA Summer event on Tuesday and then on Wednesday we have the annual Teachers versus Year 6 Rounder’s match. For the last couple of years, the teachers have lost so we are hoping for a victory this year. As it is the Year 6’s last week they are putting on their final show which they are going to perform to both the school and then their parents. We will then end the week with the Year 6 Leaving assembly in the morning and their leaving parade at the end of the day.

With such a busy week we will also need to have a restful weekend to make sure we have enough energy to get to the end of the week. Please remember that as it is the last day of term we do finish at 2.00pm next Friday.
