Week ending 7th July 2023

 Hello Year One,

This week we have been working on halves and quarters of quantities in our maths lessons.

We have been writing rhyming poems and descriptive poems about tigers. Year One know some amazing adjectives now!

For science we looked at the four seasons and wrote about the changes between the seasons and the reasons why the environment changes. We talked about the movement of animals and birds in each season.

We travelled to Africa for our geography lesson and explored the country Kenya. The children were able to write and draw in detail following our research.

Today was fabulous because we had a 'circus skills' workshop. The children loved it!

Spellings

I do apologise that I forgot to give the spellings out today. I will do so on Monday.

Next Week

English

We will be mainly working on sentence structure and handwriting next week. The children will also be writing about their experiences in Year One and their hopes and goals for Year Two.

Maths

We will be working on number next week. This will include using number lines, partitioning tens and ones and exploring greater than and less than.

RE

I will be asking the children what or who they believe 'God' is. Their creation stories were very interesting, so I am sure this piece of work will be too.

Geography

Next week we will travel to North America and be exploring  famous landmarks.

I wish you all a restful and happy weekend.

Ms Davis
